Hello to all ;D First thing I want to say is a big THANK YOU to Dan for putting this together! We live in Nanaimo, BC on Vancouver Island. We actually have palm trees I was born in Windsor, Ontario....south of Detroit but moved out here to the West Coast in 1979 and could never leave. Ron (an island boy) and I will have been married 12yrs this May. 3rd marriage for both of us...they say the 3rd one's a charm We have 3 grown sons and are empty nester's. We had lost our Dalmatian of 14yrs and more recently lost our eldest son. The purchase of a DL was just what we needed to fill our hearts. They are like potato chips as you will soon learn. Looking forward to all you introductions and stories as I sit here and watch the two boys Pile Drive each other WWF style

Welcome to OUR forum, Jackie! I enjoyed putting it together, and am delighted that folks are joining and posting! I had feared that it would just be me, my wife and Arlene...
I am so sorry to hear of your loss, my thoughts go out to you and your family.
I had a male Dal for years too, Gus. Great dog with absolute perfect markings. All spots were nice and round, dime to silver dollar size, jet black ears and nose. I studded him out for several years, and all of his litters were fantastic looking too.
Enjoy, post often and it's great to have you here!
Dan

Hi Jackie!!
How coincidental a couple of your notes are!! We too had a Dalmation, Gus, that we adored.. they are such wonderful dogs! Dan and I are both on our 3rd marriage and well and as you said, 3rd time is definitely the charm!! We are coming up on our anniversary next year..we got married on Leap Year so it's hard to figure out how many years!! LOL!!
So very sorry to hear about your son...
Vancouver Island is beautiful! Dan and I are avid Harley riders (I'm the backrest) and rode to Canada last August. One of the side trips was to Vancouver Island. We put the bikes on the ferry at Gibsons and stayed one night in Victoria.. we loved it so much we are planning another trip to ride the coastline up to Port Angeles and spend a few days exploring Victoria.
Wonderful people we met along the entire trip...covered 4300 miles on the Harley and saw some of the most breathtaking scenery ever imagined (bout froze on the Ice Highway, thank goodness for heated riding geat!! LOL)
You are right, you can't have just one DL...we are discussing getting another one but can't decide which color...I want the Silver and Dan's want's a Snow...who knows maybe we will wind up with two more? Oh my gosh, could you imagine the terror of 4 cats!!
Take care and hope to chat with you again!
Sugar

Jackie, welcome to the forum. I look forward to seeing pictures of your three and meeting them too. My DLX are older, 10 and 9 and the joy of my life. If Arlene ever gets on the forum, she'll tell you that I move a lot (she says she never writes an address in ink LOL) Been privileged to be friends with Arlene Kim for quite a few years and was fascinated by her cats and so lucky to get one. And then, as they say, betcha can't get just one!! How old your your 3? Do they do anything cute? One of my cats, Pandora or Panda for short, vibrates her tail when you pet her. That little stub can sure move!!

HaHa!! We so want another DL...not sure what another kitten would do to poor Jenny's delicate mental state!! LOL!! Scooter is so much fun, his antics are hysterical and he still does not know how to meow! He squeaks!! And then he has this god awful screech that he does when he takes off across the room playing! Funniest thing you will ever hear!!

Emma sure had a major "mental state" when Gizmo came home. She didn't come upstairs for 2 weeks and when she finally went to the bathroom....3 days after the arrival...she did it in Ron's work clothes!! Hahahaha I had to put a litter box downstairs but I left the food upstairs so she would eventually HAVE to come up. She's a chub chub anyway and could loose an oz or two. She started growling at him all over agian when he came home from his snip snip. She's such a Diva

One thing Jackie is leaving out is that she tried to toilet train Emma & Blue.. not recomended.. they do love water and playing in the toilet is so much fun! Now Dan, as far as poor Jenny goes.. well, she is Jenny and will probably just watch if there is another DLX for Scooter to play with, but I bet in time ( Oh maybe 10 yrs) she will join in the fun :-)

I forgot to mention the trill noise they make as they run thru the house with a prize or to chase the other one..it is a funny noise for sure..

So you call it a "trill" noise. Ours sound like Burrrggggg. And when I ask Emma what colour I should wear she always says "Burrrgggrounnn" So Brown it is Blue is quiet...have to listen for his purr. Gizzy is so vocal...love it. He's all alone and yippin and yappin and bouncing around. His actual sound is more of a hick up meow. Like Mick-gow. My sons like to tease him just so he'll say it The funniest story I've heard of their unique noise is the one of Stealer's mom(not on yet) They couldn't figure out what/where that noise was from the first night in the hotel with him....hahaha

Now Dan, as far as poor Jenny goes.. well, she is Jenny and will probably just watch if there is another DLX for Scooter to play with, but I bet in time ( Oh maybe 10 yrs) she will join in the fun :-) Yeah, She'll just have to deal with it...

They are very vocal - not necessarily like siamese that 'talk' all the time but mine love to 'talk' to me, especially when they want something. My son's cat, Hazard, comes up to me or him and delicately stretches out one leg and touches me lightly to be sure I am paying attention, then trills or chirps and the game is on to try and figure out what he wants. He's the 'talker' in the bunch for sure!
