Hahahaha...that's funny Arlene ;D Soooo Dan...what up with that??? Blue won the race...he already did his business in it this morning. It was my idea for the box to be built. Had it made it too big at first and had to send it back to be modified. Of course Ron and I are a team. He's the master install guy! And to think he thought it wouldn't work for the last 6 months If you are looking at the cardboard box that I propped the door in while we were at the old house....that is the box that our Kitchen Aid Mixer came in. Just happened to fit the door very well. www.petdoors.com/classy-custom-pet-portals.htmlThis is where I found the door. It's is supposed to be 'in' a door but we put it in a wall and yes....it's against code here too. So if our garage catches on fire and the house burns we will probably be SOL. Willing to take the chance. Shhhhhh....

Question for Dan... Did you put the cat litter box in the guest bedroom to keep people from staying too long?? Just saying... Yes. And a day bed for them to sleep in. Benjamin Franklin said it best, "Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days."

Ahhh, that explains the Kitchen box... Nice clean instal, Ron does good work! Glad it's working out, it's a fantastic idea!
Much to my surprise, it appears both cats are using our poop-in-the-box. Sugar left the door open, and a back-up liter box next to it. Now we are going to close the door and see if they go through the hole. If that works, we will remove the back up box, and see what happens...

Just let it be known that you and Sugar are welcome to crash here for a week. You can use us as your go from point We've had relatives stay for a whole summer!! Looks like we are on the same track Dan. Ron and I are going to move the regular box away tonight and shut the door leading from the bonus room to the kitchen. They will have their food and water and no where else to go. I'm also gonna....ahem...save some poop and put it in the box so Gizmo and Emma 'Get the idea' Blue is off and running...

Thanks Jackie! We will almost certainly take you up on the offer, maybe not for a week, but at least overnight or a couple of days. We only had one day on Victoria Island, and would really love to spend more time there exploring, it's a beautiful place, from what little we saw of it! I'll have to tell you our "Ferry Story" getting off of the island and back to Washington, it was quite an adventure... In all seriousness, our cat-box is a hopeful solution to the guest and litter box problem we've always had. Since we have had cats, we have kept the litter box in the spare bathroom tub. Makes it easy to clean, as the floor is tile, and it's right next to the toilet. The problem was when we had overnight guests, or even a party. We would have to lug the litter box out of the tub, and put it in our bathroom. It was messy to move, and of course the tub had to be throughly scrubbed. Annoyed and confused the cats when they would go looking for where we moved their box, as well. If the cabinet litter box works out, we can just move the whole works, and the mat under it elsewhere when folks come by. More than once, I've had a friend over, and when they went to the bathroom, they'd comment that it's always interesting using the bathroom with a cat doing their business right next to them. It was always Scooter, it's a guy thing...

Jackie, if Blue is already using it, you don't need to put any poop in it.. they will fill it for you ;D No really if one uses it then the others will as well.. it looks so cool, just wonder if they will get scared if they are in using it and the garage door opens But for sure I am jealous.. LOVE IT!!

Oh Man, what a bummer.. In a way it is natural for them to mark their area... just don't understand why she is doing it, she has been spayed and was never allowed to get to sexual maturity.. just baffling to me.. However the boys are not always little angles either.. sure hope the vet can find out what her problem is. Could she have a UTI?

Another thought about Emma. Is she still using the old litter box or do you just have the one in the garage? Has she used the new one yet?

We have the new one only now. Everyone else is good with it cause I've seen them. You know how Giz loves to jump in there when you're cleaning it out? Well, he still does it if he hears me in there. But now I need 3 hands to scoop and keep him in the box while the lid is up I found this link: www.remove-cat-urine.com/cat-urine-article-directory.htmlThe rest of the clan may find this interesting as well. Haven't done it yet but I'll keep you in the loop to let you know if it works

Why don't you just block off the entrance in the kitchen to the litter box before you go out to clean it? That way you don't need 3 hands :-) Are you a real blond under that beautiful dark hair The new found 'stuff' sounds interesting, let us know how it works .

Ya....the entrance door actually has a locking door to put on there if I wanted to. Should do that. Hahaha....beautiful dark hair I'm a redhead that is slowly going brown Letting it go grey. Have never coloured my hair....too much time and money So nope....no blonde under here Pretty sure Emma is now using the big box. Both Ron and I have seen here go in so fingers crossed. Give her a treat every time she comes out now.
