Out of our 3 DLX's we have one that just won't conform to the rules around here
Gizmo and Emma know to scratch the stands or the several boards we have through out the house. And we have MANY!
Mr. Blue just loves to scratch our furniture!! I've done the double sided tape which ends up attaching itself to my gf's hair on occasion and if I do take it off for company, it removes part of the pattern Then of course if you miss 3 inches of material...Blue will find it
I now have 5 pieces of furniture covered in sheets. The kitties can sleep where ever they like and when company comes, I just take them off. Gizmo has found out how to get under the sheets and really has a great time....but he doesn't claw the furniture doing it.
So here is a picture of Blues Claws. I replace them as they fall off and they are doing the job. Plus, Gizmo and Emma are spared from his torment since he is the Alpha kitty in the house. I do it myself and it's really no big deal.

What a stinker!! Good for you Jackie.. Those little nail caps will break him of that bad, bad habit.. I wonder why he is doing it, he just probably wants the attention it gives him when he does it.. I'm sure you have tried the squirt gun but they are so sneaky, if they know you are the one squirting them :-)
I have Latte', she is also a stinker but she only does it when we are around because she loves to be squirted She will just stand there and wait for it and then try to catch the water as it comes flying at her.. maybe I should take her out side and use the garden hose

That's hilarious Arlene! What a nutter Latte' is! I've even put the squirt gun where he scratches but how many squirt guns does a girl have to buy!?!?
Now, when he scratches in the good spots, I give him a treat and praise him.
Hard to do without the other two also wanting a treat.

One squirt gun and a holster !! ;D No kidding I have done that when I have little ones on the loose so I always know where the squirt gun is when I need it.. However, just remember to take it off when you go out
Yup, Latte' is a trip, she is our laser chasing water catching fool..

Our friends use those on their cats too. They get multi-colored ones, and all of their claws are different colors. Cracks me up every time we visit...
