Scooter will do kinda the same sometimes. Lays down by the food bowl, grabs a mouthful of kibble and spits it out on the rug. Then he eats one piece at a time, still laying down...

Oh my! That is so "Trouble" he does the same thing.. grabs a mouth full of food and then spits it out on the rug, lay's down and eats it, then back to the bowel for another mouth full.. Why can't they do things normal??
As for the standing in the water bowel when they drink or the plashing in it like they are in the wild and have to clear the water before drinking.. well that's another topic!! Crazy kids!
