We have a Wellness Plan for Scooter, I pay every month, basically cat health insurance. I jokingly refer to it as Scooter's Warranty...
Anyway, he was due for a round of vaccinations, and a health check, so I took him in. I tell them he doesn't need rabies shots, and I only want the minimum vaccinations for a 100% indoor cat. They ask why, and I tell them he doesn't tolerate shots well.
So, the gal tells me there are two additional shots they can give cats especially for this, prior to the vaccination shots. Helps them tolerate the shots, and he wont be lethargic for days like he usually is. $41.00 extra not covered under the wellness plan.
Fine. I want him to be as comfortable as possible...
6 hours later, they call me and tell me he is nauseous, and didn't tolerate the shots well. I ask why the extra shots didn't help. They then tell me the extra shots made him sick, and they didn't do ANY vaccinations...
I go get him, and argue the up charge, that not only didn't help, but actually made him sick. They won't back down, and I have to pay before they will bring him out...
They finally go get him after I pay, and I argue again with the vet. She wont budge either, he got the meds, I gotta pay...
Put him in the car, and 1/2 way home I smell urine. Get him home, and he's pee'd all over himself, the carrier and the back of the car. He's gone for car rides before, it's not car sickness, it's the shots...
He's still not great, just exhausted and wrung out...
I, am not pleased...
Edit: The "extra" meds were Dexamethasone and Diphenhydramine. If your vet offers these, I'd be very careful....
