I decided to say something about Dan's comment on this instead of in the health dept :-) Yes, when you came to pick up the scoot Kim had them climbing his legs.. he is very sweet with them and loves them almost as much as I do :-) I use the squirt gun ( when no one is looking) or I growl at them like a dog would.. boy do they scatter when I growl :-) Hay a girl has to do something to save her legs from being shredded :-) They learn quickly not to climb mom if she growls,.. but if I have on jeans then all's fair !! I think it all starts with the supplemental bottle feeding I do with them from around 3 weeks. They climb up on me and fight to get to the bottle, so to them I am just one more mom food source :-) They can't Wait for me to sit down on the floor with them and feed the bottle so they climb up to be first ! :-)

And they sometimes forget that they have grown.
Scooter will still occasionally Velcro himself to my leg. Always interesting walking around with a 16 pound cat stuck to you looking up with that "What?" expression on his face...

I love that you growl at them, Arlene. I also do a great cat growl at my kids when they get too pushy. While I should be surprised that they get the message so quickly it's pretty amazing to watch them back right down and go sit at the other end of the couch. I've had cats for so many years that talking to them in their own language just comes natural now.

Oh, I do a full blown big dog growl at them when they really get going :-) The stop in their track when I do it.. don't forget we also raise the American Indian dogs so they know what a growl is :-) The funny thing is if one of the house dogs dare to growl at one I will be right there giving that dog a good shake or some of the cat's just swat the dog as if to say " Oh yeah? What are you going to do huh??" Cracks me up .. I know the dogs would never do anything to the cats but they will try a bluff once in a while especially if one of the cat's eats the dogs dinner :-)

LOL!!Dan, yes, they have no idea that they just can't do baby stuff when they get bigger.. Woolly Bully (Bull) will still jump on my back every time I bend over, if I'm scooping litter.. up he jumps he loves to ride around hanging on to my back.. some of the girls will still try to crawl up my legs as well, but with each new litter I start again with the new batch :-) Speaking of.. Miketta reminded me that with MeMe's litter due tomorrow 11-11-11 they will be very special.. but she doesn't know yet that it doesn't matter what date they are born, they are all very special ! :-)

Very cool birthday, huh! Best of luck on the delivery!
I gotta try the growling trick. I suspect Scooter will laugh and ignore me, Jenny will probably explode...

It's funny - in our house Dave is the dog guy and I'm the cat person. When he growls he used the deeper "dog growl". The cats just look at him like he's an alien.
When I growl, I do the higher, whiny "cat growl". That will get them to stop in their tracks, slowly look away and back up. I tried to teach it to him but he still has a bit of an issue with getting the tone correct.

Yes, Jenny was such a cute kid.. she looks like she really loved Forrest a lot.. so sad when there time comes to leave us, just not fair.. I'm sure poor Jenny would flip out if you growled at her, your right Scooter would probably just roll over laughing ! :-)
