Shadow goes in to get spayed on Friday. While my vet is wonderful as is everyone at the clinic, I'll be a bit anxious all day.
At least it looks like we beat her first heat! I've been keeping my fingers crossed that she wouldn't come into season between the time I made her appointment and "The Day". So far so good!
I'll let you all know how things go. I'm sure she's going to HATE being stuck in the bedroom all weekend!

Shadow got dropped off at the vet this morning a bit before 8am. Just got a call from the vet letting us know that she's out of surgery and is doing very well. She'll be ready to pick up later this afternoon.
Poor Stealer - he was very upset when he couldn't find her after Dave left to take her to the vet. Went around the house calling for her and then jumped on my desk, started to rub on my and purr. This is only the second time I've ever heard him purr so I think he was a bit stressed.
I'm sure he will hate his sister for a few days, until she starts to smell right again. She's going to hate being stuck in the bedroom for a few days, too. I know if I don't lock her up she'll be running and jumping all over the house!
I have to say, I love this vet. It's well worth the cost knowing my girl is taken care of and cared for by people who love their job and the animals.

Great news, Deb! I know why you mean about Stealer, they sure don't like their schedule upset.
Sugar was in Reno for training for three days, and all both of our cats did was search the house for her! When they couldn't find her, they'd come nudge me to go help them look...

That's great!! Yes, a good vet is worth every penny to me as well.. I wouldn't trade my vet for anything.. he loves animals. It's funny but they really do miss each other, or us.. they get used to a certain thing and they like it that way. It makes them feel secure so when one of us or one of them is missing they do get upset. I know when the little ones leave for their new homes, their litter mates will call for them for at least a day and a night and the same thing for the big guys when the little ones leave, they call for them sometimes for days.

I'm such a kitty softie, Arlene - that would break my heart to hear them as I'm sure it does yours!
I love how the vet mentioned keeping her to lower activity for 3 days or so. Shadow decided yesterday that she had had enough of this "relaxing". Every time I got up to do something she was with me and there were only two speeds - RUN and STOP. Stealer also started liking her again which is good for my sleep (he kept us up Friday night, trying to get into the bedroom, little stinker).
So, everyone is doing great now. I did notice that Shadow did the same thing as Stealer. After she was recovered from the main anesthesia she went to the water bowl and now sticks her feet all the way in, trying to scoop out the water. I think it's funny that she's never done that before but started up after being put under for a short while.
They sure are entertaining cats and I SO wish we had more space cause I'd be in line for at least one more. :-)

I know Deb, the vets just don't understand the our cat's Have only 2 speeds.. I also love when they tell you ( after a female is spayed0 not to let the jump up and to keep them quiet for a few days.. YEAH RIGHT!! My vet now says, do the best you can to keep them quiet and he also said that a drop of "Rescue Remedy' on their tongue or in some wet food helps a lot.. and it does. In fact it works very well to keep them a bit calmer, but just a drop for cat's. I have used it on stressed out kitties and it helps, also used it on a dog that was returned to us and was so freaked out that I had to add it to the food for him ( a full eye dropper for a 50 lb dog, and he was fine.. No side effect from it it is totally natural.
