Exactly. Arlene, you hit the "quote" button, then "create post" without typing anything in the reply field. Keep at it, it'll make sense after you figure it out. It's not broken, it's just different than what we were all used to...

Ok, so why is every one writing on my area with Tarzans picture?? I understand some of it but if it comes from Dan or somone else shouldn't it have their avatar?? Really.. this is so confusing to me.. I used to just hit the last 10 post and I could catch up on everything and I also could take a quick look to see who has a B'Day.. not any more..still can't find the spell check !! man they sure have it right with the saying "You can't teach a old dog new tricks" WOOF!!

Hey Arlene - is there a pick of Cappi somewhere? I'd love to see one of her. I remember Monster - in fact I remember visiting you and calling him monster as a kitten - he was a holy terror! Plus one of the nicest I had seen - so glad you kept him for stud!
As far as breeding father to daughter, I tried that once with a horse (peruvian of course) and Rocket was a gaiting fool, but unfortunately he was a little on the dumb side like his mom - I put that 'fault' down to the fact he was 1/4 Quarter horse LOL Which was kind of mean since there are plenty of very intelligent qtr horses!!
You know your cats - their breeding lines etc - it might be worth a try for one litter. the color possibilities sound awesome!
Oh and I think that weak white thing - isn't that the lethal white gene in horses? Never heard of it for cats.....but then I sure don't know everything LOL

Arlene,
The reason you are seeing Tarzans picture, and your previous posts, is that you are quoting yourself, rather than relying to in a thread. You are clicking on Quote, and then on Create Post and then not adding any new text. You should not use the Quote button unless you want to copy what someone else said, and then reply specifically, to what that person said. Here's an example:
Let's say, for the sake of argument, that Jackie says, "I had a great time in Las Vegas". And then right after that Cyndi says "I wrecked my car". Now, if you just replied, "Good, sounds like fun." and your intent was to tell Jackie that Las Vegas was fun, it could confuse Cyndi (and everyone else for that mater) that you think it's good that she wrecked her car. So, what you do is Quote Jackie, so includes what she said in her post, in your new post. Then you would type "Good, sounds like fun" below her Quote and then hit Create Post The end result a post that shows Jackie's original post, with her avatar, and your reply directly under it. This way there is no confusion as to who you are talking to.
The old board had the ability to do this too, but it did it pretty sloppily. This format is actually easier to use, and more standardized to most message boards on the internet. If you simply want to type something, and not quote someone, you simply click Reply at the bottom of the thread, type what you want, and then click Create Post
You can still see the most recent topics, but now in two different ways. Go to the Home Page and there are links at the bottom Recent Threads and Recent Posts Click on whichever one you want, and they will be displayed. Birthdays are the same way, just click on View Todays Birthdays and they'll pop up. For spell check, it should underline errors in a red squiggly line. When you see the line, right click on the word and it should offer suggestions. Left Click on the word you want, and it should replace it. It could vary on how it works, depending on your operating system, but it'll be there somewhere. I did a screen shot of how mine looks on page two in this thread...
One other thing that is considered to be proper internet etiquette, is to reply and post in the proper areas. An example of this is when you replied to my NYE story in this thread. While I appreciate the comments, it would have been better to reply in the thread where the story was posted. As we are so small, it's not really a big deal here, everyone probably knew what you were talking about. But, it could lead to confusion, if another member had not read the other thread. When you start a thread, be sure to start it in the appropriate area. If I have something to share about Jenny, I should put it under Other Pets, not Breeders Corner.
As we all want to know about what Queens are making kittens with what King, a good idea would be to start a separate thread for each. One called Tarzan & Cappi, and one called MeMe and Simba for example. Then, when they produce kittens, you could post the pictures there. I know the "who's with who", and "whose kittens came from which pairing" are crystal clear in your head, but I get lost sometimes. This would clear it up for everyone. Then next cycle, start a new thread with the new pairing, don't add to an existing thread. Even if it's the same pairing, start a new thread, as different parents are going to be getting different kittens.
I'm not criticizing, Arlene, so please don't think I'm upset or trying to tell you are doing it wrong. Just trying to lend some assistance to make it easier for you to post, and easier of all of us to follow what's going on...

Ok Dan.. that was as clear as mud to me.. kind of like me trying to explain breeding and genes to you I'll try to behave and do the right thing even if I only understood about 20% of it ..but for someone with as little knowledge of computers as I have, it's not easy.. I hope I'm doing it right this time.. Oh and I don't get any squigly lines when I miss spell something..Ive right clicked on everything I could find and spell check does not come up. nothing about gramer either.. sigh.. I'll keep working on so bear with me and put away that taiser

Perhaps we need a DLX family tree reference picture!
