MAN-O-MAN what a year and it just began..Yesterday was a nightmare .. we had 3.7" of rain in 12 hours, the creek overflowed and flooded us.. I had to bring the girls in from the cattery and put them in the craft room and then put the boys in the 3 different areas of the girls cattery. The boys cattery was 2" away from going in the door. The girls cattery was still way high and dry. So one by one each girl was carried in, off with the boots full of water and through the house to the craft room, one by one .. boots full of water on and boots full of water off..Our back steps were under water.. While Kim was driving the tractor through the water trying to bring in gravel to divert the water I was wading through 18" of water moving cat's.. my boots were full of water because it was over calf high. So with boots full of water, trying to walk through the water and carrying the guys to the girls cattery, some weighting 19# with out the extra weight of the crate to boot, I was so worn out, tired and my back was killing me.. but I got it done.. also had to take the heater out of the boys cattery and turn the electric off .. in case!
Today most of the water is gone, we have sun and it is going to be 51, we don't expect rain today but we will be getting more tomorrow, and off and on all week,, super-duper!! Can't wait I just hope we don't flood again.. actually we were lucky from what we saw and heard on the news.. all of Cave Junction was underwater.. So thanks El Nino.. I guess we won't have a drought this summer!
With that came the cleaning up and moving every one back to their original places today, had to dry out and clean up the boys cattery first and get the heater back in it to help dry it out, then I moved each of the boys back into their areas, next it was time to clean up the girls cattery! They were fighting through the wire with each other.. I guess being in the girls cattery they each thought the other had all the girls, so they tore up the place and sprayed everything! I cleaned it from top to bottom, even had to wipe down the walls,, then I brought the girls back out one by one.. If we flood again I think I'll let them swim! Or just shoot myself
