I DID IT !!!!! Finally after a 8 year cat game I won !! I got my wild stray cat in the quarantine area!! Now on Monday she goes to my vet to be spayed !! She has given me fits and dozens of kitten over the years.. I first saw her as a tiny stray in our pasture, couldn't get near her but I put out food for her. She brought me her first litter of 2 babies, I placed out a humane trap and caught the little ones, when she saw that she would never go back to the trap, but I did catch baby after baby all these years.. spayed, neutered and placed in homes.. when she would see that trap she would go around to the back of it and pull the food out with her paw but would NOT go in.. She has let me get closer and closer over the years and other then a swift brush up against me 2 times she is a tough cookie :-) Today she was sitting on the step outside of the girls cattery waiting for her breakfast.. :-) I placed the bowel on the porch and went around to the other door and closed all the cats into the back 2 areas of the cattery and opened the door, I went out the back way and walked around only to see that she had stepped inside the cattery to look around, so I closed the door.. scooted her into the quarantine area.. well she is one happy kitty so far, she has let me pet her for the first time in 8 years she has been touched and she likes it :-) She is snoozing laying on her back in a cat bed thinking she has won the lottery :-) It's 29 out but it's so toasty warm in the cattery she is actually smiling :-) I know I sure am.. 8-)I've got my present from Santa ;D

Yay! So glad to hear that you finally caught her. Are you going to let her go again once she's healed from the spay?
This also made me wonder - what ever happened with the little kitten that was in the bathroom when we came to pick up Shadow? Did he find a new home?

Releasing her once she has heals is what Kim wants, but as for me?? I doubt I will let her out again :-) She is enjoying being pampered, she lays around in the cat bed on her back and eats as much as she wants.. My vet checked her out from one end to the other, he ran every test and blood test, she is healthy and right now in recovery at the vet clinic.. she will come ''home'' tomorrow. She loves being petted and scratched.. just a completer 180 from Farrel to spoiled :-) Yes Dan, I now have my own Jenny :-)
The little kitten that was in our guest bathroom when you came to pick up Shadow was placed in a new home. My vet took her ( I almost turned around and went back for her, dam I get so attached to them ) anyway she went to my vet and 2 days later a lady had to put her 18 yr old cat to sleep.. she vowed she would never ever have another animal,, as she left she walked by the little black kittens cage ( her 18 yr old cat was also solid black ), she looked at her and then went home.. she said the house was so empty she couldn't stand it so she went back and got the little girl from my vet.. the lady is so happy with her and said the kitten sure helped lighten some of the pain of loosing her old friend and the kitten made her laugh when she felt like crying so all in all it turned out purrr-fect for everyone.. oh and the little kitten was the baby of the momma I just caught !! So no more little wild ones I hope ! :-)

I'm amazed at the turnaround for momma! So glad that she's got a warm and comfy place to hang out (and get petted and loved). What a great Christmas present :-)
We shall need pictures once she gets settled!

That's just fantastic, Arlene! Good for you for collecting and placing her kittens for the past 8 years, and even better on getting her checked out & fixed!
Maybe she figured after 8 years, it was time to retire, and your ranch looked pretty dang good after roughing it in the wild that long.
We like to tell everyone Jenny is nuts (and compared to a true domestic, she is) but in reality she's just extremely cautious. She knows Sugar and I are 'safe' and her loyalty to us is 100% and then some. As long as no one else is in our house, she sticks to us like glue, and her purr motor is turbo-charged.
I think you might like having a feral around. Took her 8 years to come in, but I bet the wait is going to be worth it for both of you.
Congratulations!

I was supposed to pick up momma kitty yesterday but the vet said she was so thin he wanted to keep her over night on intravenous feeding.. so he did.. today he called and momma isn't doing very well, she is so weak and still not eating so she will spend another day & night at the vet.. I can just see the bill now but it is what it is and I want her well and back here with me.. As soon as she is home and feeling better I will of coarse send a picture of her.. she won't win any beauty prizes or cat shows but she has such a wonderful soul, spirit, and personality, she just won me over :-) Yes, I suppose she does need a name... momma kitty just doesn't do it.. once we get some time together I'm sure she will tell me what her name is :-) Until then I guess MC is it for now..:-)

I'll keep MC in my thoughts and wish for a quick and full recovery! Poor girl, I'm sure she will love being home from the vet, too!

I went to pick up MC today but she is still not doing well. She just lye's there on the heating pad with the fluids going in her, but she doesn't not look good. She will spend another night with Joe ( Vet) but it isn't looking good for her. I sat with her, I pet her and talked to her but very little response.. it's almost like she is in shock , but I know she is not in good health, or weight. Just glad if she doesn't make it that she didn't die alone out in the freezing cold.. she is warm and has a wonderful bed.. Joe has out a buffet for her to chose from if she decided to eat anything. So please keep her in your thoughts, she is a very special little lady and deserves to be a house girl, :-) I agree Ron, cats with tails do look funny.. I think that was what freaked momma kitty out, none of my gang have a tail, I think she thought if I caught her I would cut her tail off ! :-)

This is a very sad day for me today. The vet called me this morning to let me know momma kitty did not make it threw the night.. I'm devastated, I was so happy to think I could bring her in to have a nice life, but she did get a few days of love, pets, and warm soft bed to sleep in and not worry about who might eat her in the middle of the night.. I don't know if any of you remember the story of her and the fight she had with the Eagle over a squirrel, but when Kim & I came home from picking her up ( she will be placed in my garden of tears) we saw the Eagle on top of the roof, she saw us come in and flew to the top of the tree over the house, it's like he/she knew it's long time rival was gone and came to say good by to her.. my whole chest just aches from the pain .. so I might be MIA for a few days, just need to get over this ..Please, everyone, have a Wonderful Holiday. XOXOXOXO Arlene

The story about the eagle made me well up a bit. Our thoughts are with you & Kim...

So sorry to hear that she didn't make it, Arlene. I know how hard it is to lose one of our friends and no matter what others say, this little girl was a part of your life for many years.
Thank you for doing the best you could for her. I'm sure she knew she was cared for and loved!
