Ok, everyday I check the forum.. I see others are also checking but no one has anything to say??
Well, I have been waiting for one of the girls to do something.. give me a sign.. so far I'm clueless as to what is going on.. I hoped MeMe was preg, but still not sure, I have a little time to go before a ex-ray will show anything..none of the other girls are back in season yet so still waiting for that..
We are also doing harvest right now so with Kim's Daughter here with the grand baby ..the pickers all over the place.. dogs barking like crazy.. it's a real ZOO!! ;D

I check in regularly to get updates on everyone and see pics of the kitties. And I keep waiting for MeMe or perhaps one of the other girls to have babies. I had some bug problems in my house last time around in the Spring, so I couldn't take any of the kitties, but the house is clean and I'm more than ready to see one of these little rascals in action. I wish you some peace and quiet, Arlene, at least when the pickers go home and the dogs go to sleep. I bet everything looks beautiful with the harvest!

Sounds like you have your hands full, bet it's fun though. We are taking off for a 3 day ride, so I wont be online, unless the hotel has WiFi, which is unlikely...

I don't know what to tell everyone.. it now looks again like MeMe IS pregnant.. but like I said I need another week or so before the ex-ray will show anything, but with her not ''looking'' pregnant, I'm guessing she has her usual 1 or maybe 2. It appears her nipples are getting bigger which is a very good sign., so fingers crossed.. I don't know what is going on with Kiki, she is such a funny little thing.. I did bred her , or tried to a few weeks ago but she never was really in full blown heat, so not sure of her.. I did put Meme back out in the cattery because she was driving me crazy all night.. so guess I have to find out soon so everyone will know what is going on..
We are having a two day break with Kim's dad's vineyard harvest..but I have a terrible cold.. and might be off line for a day or so as well..

Ali, I wish it would be nice a quiet when all the harvest workers are gone but it's hunting season so Right now we hear target practice in the hills around us and next week we will hear them from sun up till dark and some of those creeps even go out at night and hunt, which is illegal.. but try and catch them! Now that the harvest is over we will leave our front gait open for the deer to come in and hide... one neighbor just shot a hunter who was shooting on HER property :-) I said YEAH for her.. no one said anything because he was on private property and the season hasn't started yet so the guy was in the wrong..
Sure wish I could get a hunting license to hunt and shoot the hunters!! ;D

Hi Arlene, I hope you're feeling better from the cold you had. And I'm sorry to hear about the hunters especially if they're out at night. They're probably bored young men with nothing else to do, but geez, to break the peaceful quiet at night just for target practice! I say just get a Playstation and leave the deer and the neighbors alone!

I get the fact that deer tend to overpopulate, and thinning the herd before winter arrives and they starve is actually merciful. That said, I have no interest in stalking something and shooting it from 300 yards away. Doesn't seem like much of a challenge, nor very "Sporting". My old boss was a big game hunter, and he was the first to champion legal hunting, and actually worked to increase penalties on poaching.

There's a right way, and a wrong way to do most everything. Jerks that break the rules; night hunting, hunting on other folks property, out of season hunts, and just not being respectful of others property tend to ruin it for people that follow the rules.

Hope the cold is passing, and looking forward to an update on the breeding...

Ok, I'm up.. still have a high fever but trying to move some. Doc said it's a very bad virus but of coarse with my other problems.. there is noting they can do or give me,, just have to suffer thru it.

I have no problem with culling the old, weak or sick so the young bucks can do the producing.. but lets get real, that is not what the hunters are killing.. so to me it is not right to take the big young guys for trophy's, and it is not a sport to me either.. I have something to say about the men who hunt trophy's .. usually they are trying to make up for their own ''short'' comings as a man, with a big gun
I'm not sure the gun fire isn't the reason the girls are not coming into season.. all the animals ( Horses included) are very nervous right now.. the sound of the gun fire is very disturbing to the animals. I know even the dogs are refusing to breed right now.. GRRR!!

That being said.. now to MeMe..sigh.. If she is preg, she is due next week so since I can't do much anyway have decided to just wait it out and see.. "IF" she is it's one.. today when I went out to check them she was laying on the cattery floor looking at her belly, which by the way is small! It did appear to have some movement.. so I will bring her back in and put her in the master bath and just try to deal with her digging at the door and scramming most of the night to be out with me.. usually I wouldn't mind but she is not in a very pleasant mood and with our old 16 yr old dog Ghost also sleeping at the foot of the bed, I'm afraid she will not play nice with her and I don't want to wake up to a mess in bed if she decided to deliver it on me

So, all I can say is she just might have one tucked up in there, we should know for sure by the end of next week.. if Kim wasn't doing the grape harvest I would ask him to take her in for the ex ray but he has enough to deal with..
Sure have missed you guys.. hope everyone is doing well, Hope your trip was a good one Dan & Sugar.. also need to hear from Jackie and Ron.. Last I heard Ron was doing some landscaping and planting.. I emailed Jackie and said .. that's great, had to check and make sure he didn't plant you in the garden ! ;D

Agreed, the problem with trophy hunting is it removes the biggest, strongest, and best example of the breed from the gene pool. Then pretty soon all that is left are the runts, and the whole species suffers as a result.

Ah, MeMe... That cat just doesn't play well with others, does she? Maybe we should have taken her home with us, sounds like her and Jenny are lost soul mates. Interested to see what she gives you, if anything...

Sorry you aren't feeling better, but I know what the doctor is saying. I used to have an old country doctor here that I really liked. I went in with the flu once and he told me, "Son, you have a virus. If I do nothing, it will pass in about 14 days. If I give you a shot, prescribe the best, most expensive medication available to modern medicine, and see you every other day, I can cure you in about two weeks. Suck it up, buttercup." Loved that guy, too bad he retired and moved to Florida...

Thanks for asking about our trip, Arlene. We had a great time, we went to Kanab, Utah. It's a small town on the Utah/Arizona border and is the entrance to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. There are some fantastic motorcycle roads in the area, and it's at elevation so it's much cooler than Las Vegas. We rode almost 700 miles in 3 days, and had a blast. It was nice to get the bike out again, and lean it into some corners. Sugar was especially anxious to ride, as she hasn't been on the bike for 3 months or more. This summer has been absolutely miserable, and just wont end. It's STILL 100 degrees here, and we are both sick of it. I look at the weather forecast and just shake my head. Sometimes I want to strangle the cute weather girl on TV, when she smiles and tells us it's another beautiful 100 degree Las Vegas day. Enough already, I'm ready for Fall...

Not sure where Jackie & Ron are, I'm sure they'll check in soon. We're curious about how they a settling into the new home...

:-XI won't say what I would like to say.. couldn't take it any more so crawled out of bed and went to the vet with Kim.. Oh and of coarse we took Miss Priss with us.....ex-ray taken.. nothing, nada, zip, zero!! Well there was a lot of poop but no baby! While she was there she fell in love with a stray tom that was trapped and brought in to be neutered!! YUP!! She was rolling all over the place, cooing and of coarse she waited until AFTER the ex-ray to let me know she was not preg, but back in season! So I will give her a day and tomorrow if she is still in the mood for one of her own kind.. I'll toss one in and see if she approves.. I would have put Monster back in with her tonight but just being up that long really tired me out.. don't want to relapse..I guess she is just a teenage girl doing what her parents don't like and bringing home the wrong kind of guy!
I really do love her but she is such a wild card.. I know you would have just loved her Dan,, but to tell the truth.. if you had her and Scooter, poor Jenny would have jumped off the roof!
If she wasn't so beautiful and loving ( with me) then I would just spay her, but I will keep trying, she has given me 3 beauties so just have to keep trying.
So with any luck, once she goes full blown in season so will the other girls and I will probably have 3 litters!! Can't win around here.
I'm so sorry to the waiting list..I won't give up trying,, I promise.

I'm glad you had a good time Dan, but really?? You ride a bike all day, and you take a bike ride for a vacation I guess you must love your work
Still have a few ;D dozen acres of harvest to do.. we almost had frost last night, got down to 39.. LOVE IT!! Cold nights and days in the 80's.. can't ask for more or better, now if it would just stay that way .. yeah right.

Darn, Darn and double Darn is putting it lightly! All I can say is .sorry.. I sure wish she had a few Christmas cookies in the oven.. but not much I can do. Just have to keep trying. As for the other girls.. no one is in season yet.. MeMe is also not interested enough to put one of the boys in with her..
I promise I will breed them all as soon as they come in season to be sure to get some fuzz balls for all ..
I hope once hunting season is over, and it is nice and peaceful they will be more conducive to some love making.. till then

OK, Simba is in with Kiki.. I put them together this morning before I left for my DR appointment.. it looked like there might have been a bit of a rumble in the jungle going on.. not sure if it was a love rumble or just a catch me if you can thing But at least it is looking promising.. as for Miss MeMe I put her in Simba's area in the boys cattery, right next to Monster.. so maybe he can sweet talk her thru the wire and stay safe till she is ready!

I have to tell you MeMe has Monster hiding under his blanket in his area.. when he comes to the wire to smell her OR just gets close she will charge at his, hissing. So Mr big bad tough guy jumps up on the shelf and dives in his crate and under the blankets he goes, then peeks out to say "I'm glad she isn't in with me
Now Tarzan is across the room and he is marching back and forth with that "Just give her to me look" But until she gets a lot more friendly.. no man for her!
